Competition of research works “Test Yourself on the Way to Studentship” gives an opportunity for future graduates to experience real-life operations of the plant and expand their choice of professions. This competition is a result of work of the experts of the Centre for personnel training during the whole academic year which includes tours around the production facilities, visits to the universities and the plant’s museum Demidov Centre, meetings with veterans.
The main goal of the competition is to form an interest to the steel industry and the plant itself, the promotion of talented young people, maintaining continuity of the working dynasties of the plant, selection of the best school graduates for their admission to the universities followed by work in the Company.
The winner gets an opportunity to study in the university of his or her choice at the expense of the company if this profession is in demand of the plant; the runners up who got to the second and third place will receive a monthly study allowance from the company for the whole period of their studies in the university..
Schoolchildren can go on a guided tour around the plant, where they see how steel is made — from raw material to the finished product, they can learn about vocations and popular jobs, talk to the workers, both young professionals and veterans.
Every year the Company sponsors a number of budget places in secondary and high vocational institutions of Sverdlovsk region for popular jobs with subsequent employment.
Centre for personnel training works in close cooperation with Ural Federal University named after Boris Yeltsin, the first president of Russia Ural State College named after I. I. Polzunov, Ural Polytechnic College, Revda Multi-technical School.
The company offers assistance to school graduates in their further education — contract training. This is an opportunity to get an education and a workplace in the Company after graduation: An applicant enters the university on a fee basis, but the fee is paid by the plant, at the same time they sign a contract that stipulates their future work at the plant after graduation.
